After around 25 years as a guitar player, I found myself on the steel-string acoustic fingerstyle path -- solo instrumentals. It was a good path to find myself on. Compact, independent and able to fold in elements of all sorts of music I had loved throughout my listening and playing life -- from punk and free jazz to blues and drone to international folk and outer space (and et cetera). It was too good to last (see also "Circe & Minerva").
